A stay in the heart of nature
This old farm (built in 1814) has an exceptional location, overlooking the valley of Lapoutroie. The surrounding meadows are dotted with century-old cherry trees remarkably beautifull when they bloom in springtime. On the edge of the nearby forest you can get the chance to see roe deers .
The owner Philippe planted a large orchard of over 30 local fruit varieties. You can also enjoy the company of grazing sheep and and taste home made honey and appel juice.
Within easy reach of many footpath, it is ideally located for outdoors activities such as hiking, cycling and crosscountry skiing.
The accomodations labeled “Panda” means that they are part of the "Gîtes de France" and are located in regional parks (here, the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges). The WWF (World Association for Nature Conservation) and Gîte de france awarded the Panda label from natural Heritage criteria.
What does the "Panda" label provide:
- An educational kit prepared by the Park and containing two pairs of binoculars, maps of hiking trails, magazines,
games about nature. - Books about flora, fauna and local culture.
- A marked out footpath (one hour and a half walk) from the door step. All along this walk you can discover the many facets of nature and find stories and comments about it on a specific leaflet.
- A nearby observatory where you can lookout for wildlife.
- An inventory of the flora and fauna that you can complete yourself.
- And the opportunity be part of a nature conservation project by separating trash from recycling (glass, paper, green waste) and by saving energy.
« La Gasse » is a bird sanctuary. In fact, we try to protect birds ensuring peace and quietness, especially during sensitive periods: nesting and extreme cold. We are involved in programs of participative science for butterflies and bumblebees.
We invite you to share those observations with us.
Enjoy your visit !
